Supporting Stop Social Housing Stigma

At this year’s  Housing Community Summit, being held in Liverpool, the Stop Social Housing Stigma campaign is launching the tackling stigma journey planner.

At Global Guardians we are supporting this tenant-led campaign, alongside University of Durham, Sheffield Hallam University, Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), TPAS and YD Consultants.  The aim is to present a positive image of social housing and to challenge the associated stigma.

Working with landlords and contractors, the ‘tackling stigma journey planner’ is an attempt to create an understanding of the shared common ground between landlords and people living in social housing.

Having contributed to the research, Stuart Woolgar, CEO of Global Guardians, believes that property guardians have an important role to play in helping to tackle the stigma.

“We work closely with our landlords, Councils and contractors to create a positive environment for those living in social housing.  As part of the journey planner we will continue to discuss ways to monitor and review the attitudes and behaviours of those carrying out repairs and to reward good behaviours and attitudes.”
