More Than Food: Creating Lasting Community Impact Through Partnership

At Global Guardians, we believe that protecting places should also create positive outcomes for people. That is why we are proud to work alongside My Yard and Home Group on the innovative “More Than Food” programme at Douglas Bader Park in Barnet, a partnership that demonstrates the power of community-led support and social impact.

Developed to provide far more than food provision, the programme combines practical assistance with financial inclusion, wellbeing services, employment support, and community engagement. Together, My Yard, Home Group, and Global Guardians created an accessible, estate-based support hub that helps residents overcome challenges, build resilience, and improve their quality of life.

Delivering Measurable Social Value

The results speak for themselves. Supporting 53 households and 154 individuals, the programme generated more than £585,000 in HACT-verified social value, delivering a social return of £19 for every £1 invested. Residents benefited from improved nutrition, debt advice, employment support, safeguarding interventions, and tailored wellbeing services designed around their individual needs.

A key factor in the programme’s success was its hyper-local approach. By bringing services directly into the community, barriers to engagement were removed, trust was built, and meaningful long-term outcomes became possible. From reducing rent arrears and supporting financial stability to helping residents access employment opportunities, the project has created lasting positive change.
